I love the idea of reaching out to your parents and seeing where they are already invested! What a great way to partner even more with parents. Often parents are the coaches of their kids teams, troup leaders of their boy scouts, or have other roles associated with their children's activities that can be tied back to the classroom. We don't have to wait for career day either. You can use any sport to learn about force, potential and kinetic energy, friction or any miriad of topics. Think outside the box and bring the parents in!

Subject: Engagement can begin on your campus
One way to build community engagement can begin with first looking inward. Take advantage of the skills and connections you may have through your parents. They are members of your community and often have connections that can be utilized on your campus. This can be through bringing in community resources or sharing skills. The best part is they are vested in seeing your school succeed!
What ways can you take advantage of your parent resources when engaging with the community?
